What is CHI / KI definition?

Ok I took Kung Fu as a kid and they talked about and did exercises for CHI, but the concept is still vague to me. Every time I get an explanation it is always fuzzy. Im not interested in taking a Tai Chi or Aikido class. I just want a clear cut non fuzzy definition of what CHI is?
this is not an argument on its factuality, just a explanation of the concept

Literally, Qi means "breath" and together with Xue (blood), they are the basic things to keep a living creature alive based on chinese medicine. The word Qi that is used in martial arts is actually a potential form of energy. Inside the body it is nothing other than the electrochemical energy of muscles. The reason that it's being called Qi (breath) is that it can be manipulated through the body using breathing as the main method.

The source of confusion is:

1) Based on current standard definitions of energy, it doesn't have a unique definition. Inside the body it's electrochemical potential energy and it travels in the air through blast waves which contain both kinetic and potential energy

2) The same term is being used as a magical energy or such in many movies, tales etc.

You can get a better understanding by practicing Qigong.
